A teenager from Ballykelly has been kicked out of a beauty contest after organisers discovered she was serving a suspended jail term.

Stephanie Crabtree, 17, made the final of Teen Queen UK but was thrown out after organisers found out about her conviction for assaulting two girls.

Lina Perrini, director of Teen Queen UK, said they had to ask her to leave.

Ms Crabtree has since apologised: "I really regret what happened that night.

"I would warn other girls to go out and enjoy themselves but not drink too much so that you lose control.

"I'm willing to put myself in the spotlight so other girls can learn from my mistakes."

Teen Queen were made aware of the conviction after they announced Stephanie as a monthly heat winner in the competition
