Couple deny murder of girl, seven

The mother and stepfather of a seven-year-old girl who allegedly starved to death have appeared in court and denied a charge of murdering her. Khyra Ishaq died after being taken to hospital from her home in Handsworth, Birmingham, last May. Angela Gordon, 34, and Junaid Abuhamza, 30, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court. They also deny a charge of causing or allowing her death. The pair, from Leyton Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, were remanded in custody. |
