Party man falls from attic window

A 24-year-old man has been critically injured after falling 40ft out of a window at a New Year party.

The man, who is thought to be eastern European, fell from an attic window in Broad Street, Fraserburgh, at about 1030 GMT on Monday.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Residents said the man and his two friends were shouting out of the window at passers-by.

A Grampian Police spokeswoman said the man had been taken to hospital with serious injuries and that people in the building were being questioned.

A worker from a nearby shop said: "There was a party going on there, music was blaring out.

"The boy looked in a really bad way, it was a long way to fall."

The police spokeswoman said: "Officers are at the scene interviewing occupants of the building which is situated above a business.

"It is far to early to speculate on the circumstances of the incident.

"Broad Street has been closed while an investigation of the scene is carried out."

She added that the man's name would not be released until his next of kin have been informed.
