Commuters have faced easier travel conditions as the heavy snow which hit Scotland began to clear but dozens of schools remain closed. A fresh weather warning has been issued for the Grampian area as dozens of schools remain closed due to the conditions in the north of Scotland.
Major roads which had been severely affected on Thursday were returning to normal after the blizzards conditions. Commuters had experienced easier travel conditions on Friday morning.
There were 76 schools in Aberdeenshire closed or partially closed, as were about another 70 in total through Moray, Highland and Aberdeen. However, The Met Office later issued a severe snow warning for Grampian and said roads were icy as temperatures remained very low.
