Two men have been arrested over the killing of an 83-year-old man who died after being attacked by intruders in his home. Ferozur Rahman was found unconscious and bleeding at his flat in the Brick Lane area of east London by his 17-year-old grandson on Friday. The father-of-seven was taken to hospital with severe head injuries but died on Saturday. The two arrested men, aged 39 and 25, are being questioned by police. 'Acting suspiciously' Police said the door to the flat had been forced but have said it is unclear whether anything had been taken. Det Insp Lawrence Smith said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed people acting suspiciously on the estate, or anyone who witnessed someone, or more than one person, force entry into Mr Rahman's home or leave his home between these times." Mr Rahman was last seen at his ground-floor flat in Gunthorpe Street at 2130 GMT on Thursday. He is thought to be the father of four daughters, three sons and to have several grandchildren. One of the arrested men was held on Sunday morning, the other in the evening. Police said they were keeping an open mind over the motive of the attack. |
