Pair in court over rapist murder

Two men have appeared before magistrates accused of the murder of a convicted rapist in Lancashire.

The body of Alan Lee Street, 26, was discovered in a culvert in Accrington on 19 January. He had been missing for exactly one month.

Peter Leonard, 51, of no fixed abode, and Allan Palmer, 43, of Stockbridge Road, Padiham, appeared before Burnley Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Mr Street, from Oswaldtwistle, was convicted of rape in 1999.

Mr Leonard and Mr Palmer were both remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on 6 February.

They were charged on Friday evening.

Kieran Davison, 20, of Stockbridge Road, and Ian Palmer, 45, of Whitegate Close, both Padiham, have already been charged with murder. The are both in custody.
