Another man is being held on suspicion of murdering rapist Alan Street.

Mr Street, 26, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was found dead in a culvert in Accrington nine days ago.

Police believe Mr Street, who was convicted of rape in 1999, was killed at a house in Padiham in December. Blood matching his was found there.

A 43-year-old man from Padiham was arrested after reporting to a police station in Edinburgh. A 51-year-old man was arrested hours earlier.

Two other men, Kieran Davison, 20, of Stockbridge Road, and Ian Palmer, 45, of Whitegate Close, both Padiham, have already been charged with murder.

Lancashire Police had been looking for long-distance lorry driver Allan Palmer, 43, and Peter Leonard, 51, in connection with Mr Street's death.

Detectives said the 43-year-old man arrested in Scotland was being transferred to Burnley police station for questioning.

The 51-year-old man from Accrington who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday evening will also be questioned later.
