He told BBC Radio's Good Morning Scotland programme he was certain a lot of the people involved would be indentified and he urged anyone who recognised themselves to contact police or face a "very early morning" visit from officers.
The suspects posted on the internet were all involved in violent disorder, with some responsible for assault, criminal damage, looting and a variety of other offenses.
