Ninth charged over UDA man murder | |

A ninth man has appeared in court charged over the murder of UDA member Tommy English in 2000. | |
John Bond, 42, from Mount Vernon Park, Belfast, was charged with murder and two counts of UVF membership. | |
He appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday. During the hearing, a detective sergeant said he could connect him with the charges. | |
The officer confirmed the accused had gone to police voluntarily and denied any involvement in the murder. | |
Another six men have been charged with murdering Mr English, 40, during a UDA-UVF feud. Two other men have pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in the killing. | |
Mr Bond was remanded in custody to appear again via video link next month. | |
Mr English, 40, was shot dead at his home in the Ballyduff Estate, Newtownabbey, during a loyalist feud in October 2000. | |
He had been part of a loyalist delegation which attended talks in Stormont before the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. |
