Version 0 of 1.

Outdoor Hogmanay parties across Scotland are expected to go ahead despite heavy rain and strong winds.

Forecasters said that while conditions would be "very gusty" they were not expected to be so bad that celebrations would be called off.

By midnight on New Year's Eve, rain was expected to be restricted to the south west of Scotland.

The weather has caused disruption to travel, with some cancellations to ferry routes.

The Tayinloan to Gigha ferry sailings were cancelled and route operators warned of potential problems to the Brodick to Ardrossan route.

Stenaline cancelled all their sailings between Stranraer and Belfast, while P&O Irish Sea Ferries said their sailings between Larne and Cairnryan were running as scheduled.

Northern Constabulary urged drivers to take care after icy patches on the A9 between Inverness and Aviemore led to a number of minor car bumps during the morning.

An outdoor concert in Belfast was called off earlier in the day, due to the weather conditions and a fireworks display in Liverpool has been moved to 5 January.
