Police officers had to enlist the help of firefighters to remove the body of a man from his home in Carlisle.

The 37-year-old, who weighed 40 stone (254kg), was found dead at his flat in Harraby after concerns were raised when he failed to arrive at work on Monday.

Due to his large build he had to be taken out of the first-floor window by fire crews using an aerial ladder.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner.
