More than 13,000 entries were submitted for the 24th annual Webby Awards, which has been dubbed the ‘Webbys From Home,’ as the ceremony will be held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the nominees for the internet’s highest honor are celebrities, artists, studios, designers, brands, and media including CNN, the BBC, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera, Marvel, HBO, Netflix, Disney, National Geographic, Jimmy Fallon, Ellen deGeneres, Billie Eilish, and others. The idea behind this VR project was to bring nine students from a Moscow high school – between 13 and 16 years old – to the memorial in Poland to personally undergo the experience. After the trip, we asked them to express their reactions in VR animation under the creative guidance of Russia’s leading XR artist, Denis Semionov, and the Phygitalism studio.
