Version 0 of 1.

Police in Indian-administered Kashmir say one civilian has been killed in a landmine explosion in the summer capital, Srinagar.

They say the man was the unintended victim of the mine, which was aimed at paramilitary security personnel.

A number of nearby houses and shops were damaged. No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion.

More than 60,000 people have been killed in Kashmir since 1989 when an armed separatist insurgency began.

The dead man was named as Shabir Ahmed, an engineer, who was on his way to work when the mine exploded.

Violence decreased in Indian-administered Kashmir after India and Pakistan began peace moves in 2004.

But this year has seen a number of high-profile attacks in Srinagar.

Both India and Pakistan lay claim to Muslim-majority Kashmir in its entirety and have fought two wars over the region since 1947.
