A teenager has been charged with the murder of a man found dead in his Lanarkshire home while his two-year-old daughter slept upstairs.

Police found Raymond Black's body at his home in Unitas Crescent, Carluke, on Tuesday. His daughter was found safe and well in a different room.

Peter Allan, 19, from Carluke, appeared at Lanark Sheriff Court, where he was charged with the 48-year-old's murder.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Officers went to Mr Black's house after a car belonging to him was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run road crash.

A further hearing will take place on 23 January.
