A 39-year-old man is due in court to face charges connected with the murder of UDA member Tommy English eight years ago. A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of UDA member Tommy English eight years ago.
He is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court later. Darren Stuart Moore, 39, from Mount Vernon Park in Belfast, is also charged with membership of the UVF.
Mr English was shot dead at his home in the Ballyduff Estate, Newtownabbey, in October 2000. Tommy English was shot dead in north Belfast during a loyalist feud in 2000. The case is being brought by the PSNI's Historical Enquiries Team.
He was married with three children and had been a member of the UDP's Stormont talks team prior to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. A lawyer for Mr Moore said his client would be "strenuously denying the charges".
Three other people have been charged in connection with the killing.
