A55 open again after fatal crash Lorry driver's fatal crash arrest

An elderly man has died in a road accident which has closed the A55 expressway in Flintshire. A lorry driver has been arrested after a 70-year-old motorist died in an early morning road accident in Flintshire.
The man's car collided with a heavy goods vehicle at about 0130 GMT on Thursday between Flint and Rhuallt. A Toyota Corolla left the road after a collision with a heavy goods vehicle at about 0150 GMT on the A55 at Rhuallt Hill between Holywell and St Asaph.
The westbound carriageway has reopened after it was closed for several hours. Police are appealing for witnesses. The man's wife was unhurt. She will be interviewed by North Wales Police pursuing one line of inquiry that there was "an incident" before the collision.
On Saturday a 61-year-old man died in an accident on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 at Abergwyngregyn. The dead man, from Denbighshire, has not yet been named.
Police said the lorry driver, 35, was in custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Officers are appealing for witnesses, particularly lorry drivers.
A section several miles long of the westbound road from the Flint turn-off was closed for eight hours.
