Ariana Airlines has rejected the crash of the company's aircraft as earlier reports suggested, saying all its company flights have been well received. There were conflicting reports about the type of plane and the company that owns it. Citing sources, media described it as a military jet belonging to the US. Earlier reports had said it was a passenger plane owned by the national carrier, Ariana Afghan Airlines.
"There has been an airline crash but it does not belong to Ariana because the two flights managed by Ariana today from Herat to Kabul and Herat to Delhi are safe," Mirzakwal told Reuters. However, the airline's acting CEO, Mirwais Mirzakwal, told Reuters that the crashed aircraft did not belong to the company.
The regional governor’s office, meanwhile, told 1TV news channel that the aircraft belonged to a “foreign airline.”
