Two seriously hurt in car crash

Two men have been seriously injured in a car accident in County Down.

They were in a car carrying five people which left the Castlewellan Road, Clough, at about 0420 GMT on Wednesday morning.

A police spokesman said that the area around the accident remains closed to traffic.

In all, five people have died on Northern Ireland's roads since Friday. Five more people have been injured, including three young children.

Seamus Graffin, 58, from Oriel Road, in Antrim died following a road accident in Randalstown on Tuesday.

Matthew Dagens, 15, died on Saturday after being struck by a car at Downpatrick on Friday.

James McGuigan, 30, and his daughter, Lorna, 8, died in an accident near Crumlin, also on Friday.

David Heaslip, 18, of Ballymiscaw Road, Holywood, died following an accident on the Belmont Road on Friday.

The three children who were seriously injured include Mr McGuigan's two other daughters and a 10-year-old boy who was knocked down by two cars while walking in Lurgan.
