An elderly man has died in a house fire in Glasgow which broke out in the early hours of the morning. A 78-year-old man has died following an early morning fire at his house in the Drumchapel area of Glasgow.
Crews were called out at about 0450 GMT to an intense fire on both the ground and first floor of the terraced house in Drumchapel. Fire crews extinguished the blaze after being called to the house in Halbeath Avenue at about 0450 GMT.
Firefighters with breathing apparatus went in to try to rescue the man but found him overcome by the blaze. They later discovered the body of William Best in the downstairs bedroom. His 47-year-old son managed to escape unharmed from the house.
