A shop worker, who did not want to be named, said he saw one of the victims bleeding from his head outside a fast food restaurant in the Bullring.
'Machete attack'
"There was a lot of commotion and security were running about like mad," he said, adding: "I think one of the lads was trying to get help.
"I saw paramedics treating him behind a screen and he had bandages around his head. I heard he was attacked with a machete."
He said a second victim ended up on the bottom level of a clothes store, which had a note in its window warning of "an incident".
