A woman was killed and three people, including a young child, were injured in a collision Tuesday in Northwest Washington, authorities said. A woman was killed, and three people, including a child, were injured in a collision Tuesday in Northwest Washington, authorities said.
D.C. fire department spokesman Vito Maggiolo said the three-vehicle crash occurred at Blair Road and Aspen Streets NW, with people trapped in two of the vehicles. The crash happened just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Blair Road and Aspen Street NW. D.C. police said a 2003 Volvo headed north on Blair Road struck a GMC pickup truck head on. The driver of the Volvo was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Maggiolo said, and a man, a woman and a child about 4 years old were transported to a hospital in critical condition. Police later identified the driver as Teresa Larnell Channelder, 35, of Northeast Washington.
No further information about the incident was immediately available. On Wednesday, police said a man and a 4-year-old child who were passengers in the Volvo, along with the truck driver, had nonlife-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
