A large area surrounding the street named after the hospital was cordoned off by the police. According to the newspaper La Voix du Nord, two small canisters and one larger one have been taken out of the black Citroën Picasso car. The vehicle was parked near a bar on l'Hôpital-Militaire Street and a large area surrounding the street was cordoned off by the police as a precaution while checking the car and its contents.
Local police later tweeted that the security operation had ended. According to the newspaper La Voix du Nord, two small canisters and one larger one were taken out of the black Citroën Picasso car as part of the security check.
