The County Donegal home of a Londonderry man who was injured in a gun attack three months ago has been destroyed in a fire.

The blaze at Transalla outside St Johnston was discovered by neighbours on Sunday night.

No-one has lived in the house since the owner was shot and wounded outside it in September. A pipe bomb was also left at the house the following month.

The Garda have said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

In September, four masked men waited for the 26-year-old man to return home, and surrounded his girlfriend as she got out of their car to open a gate.

One man fired a shotgun at him through the windscreen, hitting him in the neck. He was also shot with a handgun through the driver's window.
