A major police search for a missing 10-year-old girl has been called off after she was found safe and well.

Alisha Sweeney ran away from her home in Bridlington Road, South Oxhey, near Watford, following a row with her family on Saturday afternoon.

Police searched through the night to try and find her and the force helicopter was used.

A police spokesman said Alisha had been found by a officer and said she had stayed with friends.

He said: "Alisha was found safe and well by a police officer on foot who was looking for her in the area of her home address."
