Steven Gallacher, 24, suffered serious injuries in a disturbance which took place in Murdieston Street in the town on Saturday night. An ambulance rushed Mr Gallacher, originally from Port Glasgow but who had been living in Northumbria, to the town's Inverclyde Royal Hospital. However, he died a short time later and the murder investigation began after his post-mortem examination on Sunday. Detective Inspector Paul Swinburne, of Strathclyde Police, appealed for anyone who was in the area at about 1840 GMT, or anyone else with information, to come forward. |
