Version 0 of 1.

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found at a flat in Hull.

Officers were called to the property in Euston Close, off Anlaby Road, in the early hours of Sunday after reports of a disturbance.

They found a door had been damaged and the body of a woman, believed to be in her 60s, was found inside. She had suffered severe head injuries.

A 17-year-old youth was arrested a short time later.

The victim has not yet been formally identified.

A post-mortem examination was expected to be carried out later on Sunday, Humberside Police said.

Weapon seen

The scene of the murder has been cordoned off and forensic examinations are continuing.

Police want to trace a number of witnesses who approached police officers in the Bean Street area at about 0230 GMT and reported seeing a male with a weapon.

They also want to speak to a group of about five young people on bicycles who may have seen the suspect in Anlaby Road at about 0220 GMT and moved out of his way.

Senior investigating officer Det Supt Christine Kelk said: "We have arrested a 17-year-old youth on suspicion of murder but we have a lot more inquiries to do in order to establish his whereabouts prior to the incident in Euston Close.

"I already know of some members of the public who saw someone acting suspiciously in Bean Street.

"I am appealing to anyone else who saw anything suspicious in that area to contact us as a matter of urgency."
