Girl, 4, dies as TV falls on her
(about 1 hour later) | |
A four-year-old girl died on Christmas Eve after a television fell on her, it is understood.
North Wales Police launched an investigation into the death at the girl's home in Coedpoeth, Wrexham, on Wednesday evening.
The inquiry has now been handed to the north east Wales coroner's office.
Early this month, a coroner warned of the dangers of heavy objects on light furniture after a 13-month-old Swansea boy was killed by a falling TV.
In that earlier separate death, Riyaz Ghaazi Mohamed, of Penlan, Swansea, pulled over a television weighing 33kg (73lb) as he used a chest of drawers to stand.
Coroner Philip Rogers, speaking on 3 December, recorded a verdict of accidental death after the boy's death in July.
At that inquest Mr Rogers urged parents with small children to "the stability of furniture in their home, especially when heavy objects are placed on lightweight furniture, because this is a tragedy which could easily happen again."
The hearing was told that the two lower drawers of the piece of furniture had been filled with books, videos and DVDs, while the top drawer was empty. |
