Two people have been rescued from a car which plunged 150ft (45m) down cliffs in the Isle of Man. A couple whose car plunged plunged 150ft (45m) down cliffs in the Isle of Man are "extremely lucky to be alive", said police.

The extent of the woman's injuries is not yet known, said the Coastguard team which carried out the rescue. She suffered neck and back pain when coastguards rescued her but has since been released from hospital.

A spokesman for Isle of Man Police said: "This could so easily have been a fatal incident given the location of where the vehicle went down the cliff side.
"A police accident investigator has examined the scene and inquiries are ongoing."
