Version 0 of 1.

Motorists are being warned of nearly two years of speed restrictions and lane closures as a £120m roadworks scheme gets under way in Kent.

Improvements are being made to the A2 and A282 around junction two of the M25 near the Dartford Tunnel.

The Highways Agency said the work would "reduce congestion and improve journey time reliability" in the area.

The project - due to finish in mid-2008 - will involve 50mph speed limits, narrowed lanes and overnight closures.

The planned roadworks are:

New lanes to link the northbound A282 and the eastbound A2.

New lanes on the A2 westbound for traffic joining the M25 clockwise.

A fourth lane added in both directions on the A2 between its junctions at the M25 and Bean.

Two new viaducts alongside Littledale Viaduct, and a flyover over the A2 and M25.

The Highways Agency's John Martin said: "These improvements will add much needed extra lane space on these busy routes."

The lane narrowing will be at junction two of the M25 during construction of the new flyover.
