The westbound carriageway was later re-opened. Delays were expected for eastbound drivers for three hours, with diversions at the junction with the A5. The westbound carriageway was later re-opened but drivers eastbound were delayed for several hours as that carriageway remained closed.
Diversions were put in place at the A55 junction with the A5 and police confirmed later on Saturday night that the carriageway had reopened.
