Following earlier media reports of explosions near the town of Kobani, the Pentagon said the US forces came under fire sometime in the evening on Friday, local time.“US troops in the vicinity of Kobani came under artillery fire from Turkish positions at approximately 9 p.m. local Oct. 11,” the Pentagon said in a statement. “The explosion occurred....in an area known by the Turks to have US forces present.”  Following earlier media reports of explosions near the town of Kobani, the Pentagon said US troops "came under artillery fire from Turkish positions at approximately 9 p.m. local Oct. 11” and that the explosions occurred " tin an area known by the Turks to have US forces present.”
