A woman has been injured falling from a fairground ride in Hull. A woman has been seriously injured falling from a fairground ride in Hull.
In a tweet, Humberside Police said its officers were "currently in attendance with Hull City Council" at Hull Fair after the woman fell on Monday evening. Humberside Police said she was believed to have fallen from one ride at Hull Fair on to the base of a nearby one, striking a teenage boy as she fell.
The woman has been taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition has not yet been reported. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening. The teenager suffered minor injuries.
Two rides at the fair have been closed. Police asked visitors to "please be patient as we work to establish the circumstances around" what happened. Two rides have been closed while police and health and safety officials from Hull City Council investigate.
Ch Insp Paul Kirby, tactical commander for Hull Fair, said: "We have very well established plans in place with the council for any incident like this at the fair, and I want to thank everyone for their patience while we deal with this.
"I am appealing for anyone who might have seen what happened, or who has any video footage of it to contact us."
In 2017, more than 30 people were trapped in mid-air for five hours when a ride broke down at Hull Fair.
It is one of Europe's largest and oldest travelling funfairs, dating back to 1278, and is held over a week in October every year.
