Version 0 of 1.

A man has been detained in Yemen on suspicion of shooting dead a Yemeni Jew in the town of Raida in Amran province on Thursday.

Security sources said it was not clear if the killer's motives were political.

The head of the local council in Raida, Ahmad Hussein al-Muneiri, said the suspect was a former pilot in the Yemeni air force.

He had had to stop work several years ago because of a mental health condition, Mr Muneiri said.

Only a few hundred Jews, from a community that once numbered tens of thousands, remain in Yemen.

They are often ostracised and have faced intimidation and attacks by militant groups.
