A woman has admitted the culpable homicide of a pizza restaurant's trainee manager in Glasgow's west end.

Marion Hinshelwood, 43, was originally charged with murdering 25-year-old Eleni Pachou at Di Maggio's restaurant in Ruthven Lane in May.

Prosecutors accepted the cleaner's plea to the reduced charge. She is now expected to give evidence against former waiter Juan Carlos Crispin.

The 37-year-old will stand trial early in 2009.

At the High Court in Glasgow, Hinshelwood admitted killing Greek-born trainee manager Ms Pachou at the restaurant on 29 or 30 May.

The charge states that she repeatedly struck her on the head and body with a knife and similar instrument, robbed her of a set of keys, opened a safe and stole £1,320 before attempting to open another safe.

She also admitted a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Mr Crispin's QC, Paul McBride, said he denied the murder and two charges of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Prosecutor Brian McConnachie QC said Hinshelwood would now be a Crown witness in a forthcoming trial.

Judge Lord Brailsford adjourned the case for a further preliminary hearing next month.
