The police have been told to return suspected stolen goods to a woman who argued they were her wedding presents. The district judge at Londonderry Crown Court made the order on Friday. The court heard the police seized items including 35 pairs of workmen's boots and flatscreen TVs from a house in Strathfoyle in April. But Ellie Stokes, from Cornshell Fields in Derry, argued they were her wedding presents. She is to marry her fiance on Monday. A computer, two oil burners and other electrical and household goods were also seized. The police said they believed the house in Strathfoyle was a "drop-off" for stolen goods. The district judge said the items should be returned to Miss Stokes because there was no evidence to prove they were stolen. Miss Stokes said she did not want the boots returned. |
