The incident happened on Friday night in Mynydd Glas in the village of Nantyffyllon near Maesteg, said South Wales Police. Officers said they were called to a report of a stabbing in a house at Mynydd Glas in Nantyffyllon near Maesteg at 2217GMT on Friday.
More follows They said the incident followed an altercation between two groups.
The stabbing victim was taken by ambulance to hospital at Bridgend where he was pronounced dead.
A team of detectives is investigating and an incident room has been set up at Bridgend police station.
Police said the victim has not been formally identified and his next-of-kin have not yet been informed.
The four under arrest remain in custody and enquiries are continuing.
