There are two auditoriums, one seating 750 people, the other 350, but they can be combined into one theatre space. Leicester Theatre Trust chairman of trustees Anthony Lawton said: "It means a huge amount for the Queen to visit. It's a feather in the cap for Leicester, and for all the people involved it's just so exciting."
The theatre will be run by independent charitable organisation the Leicester Theatre Trust. The Duke of Edinburgh, he said, was "just fascinated" by the building's innovative design.

Wendy Hickling received a degree then and got the chance to meet the Queen again. "To welcome the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh back to the university after 50 years is another tremendous accomplishment for the university," said vice-chancellor Professor Robert Burgess.
"She just asked what it was like to be here now and how different it was to the days when I first graduated, but also how happy she was to be here." The Royal couple finished their day of engagements with a visit to Leicester Grammar School's new building in Great Glen.
