US forces have killed a suspected member of an Iranian-backed militant group and arrested two others in the Iraqi capital Baghdad. The three suspects are all said to belong to Kataib Hezbollah, which the US regards as a surrogate for Iran. The operations are part of a sustained campaign by the US military to degrade Kataib Hezbollah capabilities. Four other suspects were arrested in raids on Monday, taking the toll of those detained to more than 30. Iran denies the US charge that it is responsible for training, arming and funding anti-coalition attacks. Meanwhile, in the al-Amil district of Baghdad, a minibus exploded, killing one person and injuring at least five. Local police said the bomb targeted employees of Iraq's ministry of education. A police officer is quoted as saying it exploded as employees were boarding a bus. |
