The opening was announced as National Lottery said they have raised £375m for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
The Olympic Lottery Distributor (OLD) said it has now achieved about half of its £750 m funding target from sales of specially-designed lottery games.
National Lottery funding will contribute about £2.2bn to the public funding package for the Games and will help fund the Olympic Stadium, a new velopark, aquatics centre, handball arena and hockey centre.
