A shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness in northern England that builds nuclear submarines has been evacuated, after a bomb warning, according to the operator, BAE systems. | |
Police were alerted around 9am on Wednesday morning, after an anonymous tip off, warning that there was a bomb on one of the Astute class vessels at BAE Systems' shipyard in Barrow, according to The Mail. | |
"As a precaution, the Devonshire Dock Complex has been closed," a spokeswoman for BAE Systems said. "Staff, contractors and local residents are being kept informed." | |
Some 1,700 employees were evacuated from the scene as Cumbria Police moved in to investigate the incident. Ambulances are at the scene. | |
