Robbers steal from security van

Masked robbers with knives and batons held up a security van which was delivering cash to a bank machine.

The incident happened at the Halifax bank in the town centre of Rhyl, Denbighshire at around 2000 GMT on Friday.

A substantial amount of money was taken by three or four men who threatened two security guards.

A silver Toyota Auris thought to have been used by the robbers was found abandoned half a mile away.

Police said the incident happened in Russell Road in the town with the car used in the robbery found in Graham Drive.

One of the two guards sustained a minor injury.

It is not known how much money was stolen but North Wales Police are appealing for information to the crime.
