McFly kick off Children in Need Stars unite for Children in Need

The BBC's Children in Need appeal has got under way with a performance of the charity single Stay With Me by McFly. Stars from the worlds of music, sport, television and theatre have come together to help raise millions of pounds for the BBC's Children In Need.
Girls Aloud, Boyzone and the casts of EastEnders and Coronation Street are among the galaxy of stars taking part in the telethon. BBC news readers performed an Abba medley, while hosts Terry Wogan and Tess Daly took part in a special edition of Strictly Come Dancing.
Sir Terry Wogan is presenting the seven-hour show, alongside Fearne Cotton and Tess Daly. At 2330 GMT, the total raised had reached £15,709,376. Sir Terry failed to win, with judge Bruno Tonioli describing his dance as "a good performance for radio".
At 0100 GMT, the total raised in the telethon had reached £19,934,232.
Last year's Children in Need raised over £19 million on the night, with the final appeal total topping £37 million.
This year's appeal got under way at 1900 GMT with a performance of the charity single Stay With Me by McFly.
