Detectives investigating the murder of a father-of-one in Larne have arrested a woman, police have said.

She is being questioned on suspicion of withholding information.

Kenneth Nicholl, 28, was found stabbed to death at the back of Herbert Avenue at 0800 GMT on 2 November.

Mr Nicholl was buried on Saturday following a service at the town's Old Presbyterian Church. Earlier police revisited the scene of the murder.

DCI Jonathan Roberts said people may have seen the power station employee the night before his body was found.

"Kenny had been drinking in Larne town the night before he died," he said.

"It is entirely possible that members of the local community saw him walking home, or indeed may have seen or heard something in the area of Herbert Avenue between Saturday night and Sunday morning."

A man arrested in connection with Mr Nicholl's murder earlier this week remains in custody.
