Investigations are under way into the death of a man found with head injuries in a street in Sheffield.

The 58-year-old was discovered by a member of the public lying on the pavement in Greenwood Road just before midnight on Friday.

South Yorkshire Police said he had earlier left his home in the Darnall area of the city to go to the pub.

It is not yet known whether his death is suspicious. A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

Police closed Greenwood Road for several hours following the discovery.
