The Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) MEP Jim Allister has urged the DUP to tell Gordon Brown that power sharing in Northern Ireland is not working. Mr Allister was speaking ahead of the TUV's first party conference in Belfast on Saturday. He described the deadlock at Stormont as a "daily shambles". And he said the DUP should point to the deadlock as proof that a mandatory coalition which includes all the major parties cannot work. In a challenge to his former party colleagues, he said:"Why don't you come now to Westminster and say to the prime minister, 'We tried your mandatory coalition it doesn't work, it can't work, it is finished. "If you want devolution give it to us on the basis of anywhere else and that is voluntary coalition." |
