The death of a baby boy who was treated by ambulance staff in a Norfolk city centre street late on Thursday evening is being investigated by police. A baby boy died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at a city centre shopping centre in Norfolk.
Crews treating the boy in Gentleman's Walk in Norwich called police. Ambulance staff treated the boy in the Chapelfield Shopping Centre in Norwich.
The infant was taken to the Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital on the outskirts of the city where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The eight-week-old infant was taken to the Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A police spokesman said the death of the eight-week-old boy was being treated as unexplained. An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "We were called by security staff to reports an eight-week-old baby was in cardiac arrest outside an HMV store."
An ambulance crew was sent to the Chapelfield Shopping Centre late on Thursday evening.
"The baby was being worked on by a community first responder," the ambulance spokeswoman said.
"Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the baby as he was taken to hospital."
Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and further investigations were being carried out.
Chapelfield was open for late night shopping at the time.
