Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust said the two deaths in five months occurred at the midwife-led birthing unit at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. A spokeswoman for the trust said they had not received any complaints from the parents of the babies. "Since (the unit's) opening in June there have been two deaths at St Mary's birth centre," she said. "Both cases are being rigorously investigated, which is standard procedure. "No complaints have been received from the parents of the two children concerned," the spokeswoman said. The hospital declined to reveal any more details about the babies due to patient confidentiality. |
