A number of houses have been evacuated in Magherafelt following the discovery of what is believed to be a World War II grenade. A World War II grenade found near houses in Magherafelt has been made safe by the Army.
The discovery was made by workmen at Ballyronan Road shortly after 1400 GMT on Monday. A number of houses were evacuated after the weapon was discovered at about 1415 GMT on Monday.
Some roads in the surrounding area have been closed to traffic. It was found by workmen at Ballyronan Road. A number of roads in the surrounding area were closed to traffic.
They are Meeting Street at Kirk Avenue, Fairhill at King Street and the Ballyronan Road at Queens Avenue. They were reopened about two hours later when the grenade was dealt with by the Army.
