Five charged in ATM theft probe

Two men aged 26, 30 and one in his early forties are from Witton Park, near Bishop Auckland in County Durham. Together with a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old from the Bishop Auckland area, they will appear before Peterlee Magistrates' Court on Thursday. Four women and a 19-year-old man were also arrested and have been bailed pending further inquiries. The women are aged between 23 and 68 and from Witton Park, Durham City and the Bishop Auckland area. The charges follow a series of early morning raids on Tuesday co-ordinated by Durham Police, which focussed on addresses in County Durham and the Cleveland force area. The investigation is into thefts from cash machines in Lancashire, North Yorkshire, County Durham, Cumbria, the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway. |
