Thriller zombies set world record
(about 2 hours later) | |
The world record for dancing zombies has been broken in Nottingham.
The official count put the number of people performing Michael Jackson's Thriller dance at 1,227 - 199 more than the previous record.
Organisers of an annual games festival had put out an appeal for volunteers to fill the Old Market Square and provided costumes, make-up and choreography.
The dancing began at 1700 BST and but it took officials from Guinness half an hour verify the result.
The old record had been set just days before in Monroeville, Pennsylvania on 28 October this year.
Margaret Robinson, who helped arrange the event, said: "It has been fantastic, we have had a huge turnout, far better than we expected, you can't move for dancing zombies.
"We are all zombies tonight, we are all undead, I am covered in blood - very happy."
In March the city also claimed the record for massed Robin Hoods when 1,119 costumed people gathered at the castle.
